We Have a Major Update on Dr. Simone and Cecil Whitmore's Son Michael

Dr. Simone and Cecil Whitmore's youngest son, Michael, has grown up before our very eyes. Michael was only 10 years old when we first met the Whitmores in Season 1 of Married to Medicine. Now, we just watched the family celebrate the 18-year-old's high school graduation in the March 14 episode of the series.

Michael's high school graduation was a momentous occasion for many reasons, including the fact that it took place during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. "I think it was interesting to be able to show him [going] through his process of graduating, graduating from high school, and us getting him ready to go off to college, and the difference of the way you do it during COVID," Cecil said during an exclusive interview with Bravo Insider. "I just feel like it was a very unorthodox way to get him off to school."

As we saw on Married to Medicine, Michael's high school hosted a socially distanced outdoor ceremony for his graduation. His parents then threw an outdoor graduation party in the parking lot of Dr. Simone's OBGYN practice.

Though Michael's high school graduation may not have been what he imagined, it will bring about a unique bonding experience for everyone who graduated in 2020, according to Cecil. "I mean, I think the great thing for the kids from 2020, they’ll have something to talk about forever," he said. "Their senior year was different than anyone’s senior year in the past."

Michael is now in the midst of his freshman year at Lee University in Tennessee. Even though he is currently on campus, Michael hasn't been having your typical college experience due to the pandemic. "It’s been an interesting year with some challenges because my child is social and likes to hang out with his friends and likes to have a good time. And we’re just, we’re in a pandemic," Dr. Simone told Bravo Insider. "And so, he’s having to learn the hard way we are still in a pandemic. And you’re just not gonna be able to kick it, you’re just not."

Cecil noted that attending college at a Christian institution located in a small town in Tennessee has also "definitely been an adjustment" for Michael.

With Michael away at college, Dr. Simone shared that "things are quiet" at their home in Atlanta now — although not too quiet since their eldest son, Miles, 22, is living with them. "Miles is doing good," Dr. Simone said. "We made a decision [for him] to take a year off school. So he’s working full time."

Cecil added that Miles is now using this time away from school to determine what he would like to pursue as a career. "He started out majoring in biology, and then he was like trying to, I think, please his mom. And then he went over into math," Cecil explained. "And he just hasn’t been able to figure out what he really wants to do. And so, that’s why he took the year off."

Miles does have a passion for film, and being able to learn about what goes on behind the scenes of Married to Medicine has enabled him to explore this as a potential career path, according to Cecil. "He’s gonna try to go back and do something in film and media," Cecil said. "He’s actually been talking to some of the guys in production around their jobs. And so that’s been pretty cool for him."

As for Michael, he is already thinking about what's next after college. "He wants to play basketball throughout college," Cecil said of his youngest son. "But he’s also talking about, when he graduates, going to law school, which I think he’ll be great at 'cause he is definitely a talker."

"Yes," Dr. Simone agreed with her husband. "And he can debate and argue his side for anything — to keep his little butt out of trouble."

One thing is for sure: The future looks bright for the Whitmore brothers!
